The 20 kg box, and the pallet it rebuilds
Twenty kilos in a base that covers twice the plan area of the standard box. That second figure is the one that matters, because the pallet is then built on a different module: the layer pattern changes, the stacking changes and the way the load holds together changes with them. Fewer lifts, and every one of them heavier.

What it changes on an order
The fruit is going to be re-graded or processed
Larger packages cut the number of touches between the packhouse and the line. Where presentation stops mattering because the fruit is about to be cut, squeezed or repacked, the bigger unit does the same job for less packaging.
Your pallet plan is fixed by your warehouse
Racking, pallet base and maximum height decide whether this module fits at all. Send those constraints with the enquiry, since a format that suits the packhouse and not the rack is a problem that arrives on a vehicle.
Presentation still matters to your customer
Ask how deep the fruit sits and how it is laid inside. A deeper package puts more weight on the fruit underneath, which is a question worth putting to the packhouse before this format goes onto a line that sells the oranges whole.
What this note does not settle
- We have not confirmed that this format is available from our packhouse, in what quantity or with what label. Treat it as a planning reference until the grower has agreed it.
- The pallet figures published on the packaging page are counted in the smaller box. None of them transfers to this module, and anyone quoting freight on it needs a fresh packing list.
- Manual handling rules at the receiving site are your own. What a package of this weight means for the people unloading it is decided by your organisation, not by the format.
A different module, and the pallet follows it
The base of this box covers twice the plan area of the standard one, so it is not a variation on the same theme. Layer patterns worked out for the smaller module do not carry across, the way a load interlocks changes, and the stability of the stack on the road changes with it. Figures published here about boxes per layer belong to the other format and should not be borrowed.
Your own warehouse sets the other half of the constraint. Racking depth, the maximum height a position accepts and the pallet base you run decide whether this module fits once it arrives. Send those limits with the enquiry, because a format agreed at the packhouse and discovered at the rack is a problem that has already travelled a long way.
Fewer lifts, and each one heavier
Bigger packages cut the number of touches between the packing line and the place the fruit is used. Where oranges are about to be squeezed, cut or graded again, presentation has stopped earning its keep and this unit does the same work with less board around it. That is the case where the format is the sensible answer rather than merely the cheap one.
Where the fruit is still to be sold whole, two questions come first. How deep does the fruit sit inside, and how is it laid. A deeper package puts more weight on the oranges at the bottom, and the answer belongs to the packhouse that built the box rather than to a row in a catalogue.
