Organic certification on Spanish citrus
Organic is the one credential in this group written into European law instead of owned by a private scheme. It certifies an operator and a method of production, verified by an approved control body whose code appears on the pack, and the word itself is protected, so selling fruit as organic outside that system is an offence rather than an overstatement.

What it changes on an order
Your customer reads the code printed on the pack
That code names the body that controlled the operator. Ask for it in writing, because it is the part of the claim that can be checked against a register.
You read organic as a promise about residues
It describes which inputs and practices are permitted. Testing on arrival answers a separate question and belongs separately in your specification.
You are planning a programme two seasons out
An orchard cannot switch inside a campaign. Anyone offering organic fruit for next winter is describing a conversion that began three winters ago.
What this note does not settle
- Certification records how a crop was grown. It carries no claim about flavour, keeping quality or commercial grade.
- We appear on no organic register and work with no control body, so nothing we sell can carry the term or the leaf.
- Rules on permitted inputs and derogations are revised. Read the version in force for the campaign you are buying, not a summary from an earlier one.

The term is regulated, and the code is the proof
Inside the Union the word belongs to a legal regime with public enforcement behind it. Every operator in that regime carries a code naming the body that inspects them, and the code travels on the pack beside the leaf. Ask for the code rather than the adjective. A code can be matched against a register in an afternoon, and an adjective supports whatever the person using it wants it to support.
Because enforcement sits with public authorities instead of a scheme owner, misuse of the term becomes an administrative matter with penalties attached. That changes what kind of claim it is. A private certificate that lapses is a commercial inconvenience. A protected term used without the system behind it opens a file with somebody whose job is opening files.
Three winters, and why we are outside it
Tree crops cannot be turned around inside a season. The regulation sets a conversion period running for years before any harvest may be sold under the term, which means farming to organic rules and selling at conventional prices for the whole of it. That is the genuine barrier for a small grower, and it is a cash flow problem wearing the costume of a paperwork problem.
We sit outside the system altogether: no control body, no operator code, no conversion started, and the word absent from this site for exactly that reason. If your programme needs certified organic citrus, this is the wrong origin for it. Saying so is worth more to you than a hopeful answer, and it is the only answer the register would support anyway.
